Be Intentional to Who you are With Claudia Lumor

After returning back to Ghana after studying and working in banking and law, Claudia Lumor saw that there was a lack of magazines that celebrated inspiring people in Ghana. Now 10 years later she has built Glitz Africa, become a UN ambassador and created the Glitz Style Awards. We got to glean some of her wisdom during our recent Friday Female Founders Instagram Live. Keep reading to see some of the highlights from the conversation.

Make your brand message clear

When building content on our social media platforms, it is important to try and be as clear as possible about your brand’s message. Those looking on your social channels should be able see what we stand for and are trying to offer straight away. People want to be able to have an opinion on what you stand for,  so you should stay true to who we are as a brand by what you post. The clearer and easier it is to understand your brand message, the more likely we are going to create a community and platform that will have a committed audience.

‘Those doors that are opening are opening for a purpose.’

Allow others into the vision

Forming a team is one of the hardest things to create, especially when you’re a small business but delegation and empowering a team is crucial to growth. When building teams, ensuring that you allow those in your teams to take ownership of being part of it and are proud of the business is important. When you let them be part of your vision and they understand it, you will see things come to fruition. As a founder, recognising what skills you don’t have and allowing those who do have skills in those areas to flourish is actually a privilege. There are going to be challenges and disappointments when creating a team but you shouldn’t let the fear of that stop us from bringing people in.

‘Build a reputation and stay true to who you are and your story.’

The importance of self-care and support

When you’re trying to be great at everything, it can be hard to prioritise things such as your faith, family and self-care but it is so important. It is crucial to our wellbeing and success to remember that we are only one person and that we cannot be everywhere at the same time. To fulfil this, it is fundamental to have people around who you can trust and feel supported by.

Our latest edition is here to change the narrative of faith in today’s climate. Where so many of our lives as working women are led by our purpose, pressure, and power, it felt fitting for the three P’s to be the theme for Issue 5 too.

Content creator and beauty entrepreneur, Sazan Hendrix, graces our cover and squashes the fantasy that choosing God over anything is easy, but speaks of the growth in her life since doing so.

NBA presenter, Kristen Ledlow shares how she’s kept true to her purpose within the entertainment industry, and with thousands of eyes watching her.

This edition brings to life how people from every sector- from counselling to politics, from sports to music - have used their faith in God to find their purpose, understand their power and control pressure.
